I turned a broken turntable into a light switch.
I was inspired by the emotive moment of the last song before bed — watching the vinyl spin, listening to the music, and closing out a day. It feels like a poetic ritual and a gentle transition into rest. That’s why I decided to turn it into a light switch. To dim the light, users need to slowly spin the vinyl, winding down the day with an intentional and meditative gesture. Slow, deliberate, and grounding — like the last notes of a song.
We live in a time when all kinds of technologies constantly compete for our attention - we’re always chasing toward the new, the fast, and the smart. I want to reimagine a different kind of at-home experience — one that finds beauty in slowness, presence, and giving old objects new life.
Good night :)
